In 1997, I moved to Austin, Texas, to attend law school. While in shool, I conceived my third child. Although I knew I didn’t want to give birth in a hospital, I wasn’t well-versed in my options. After finding a midwife, my birth experience was nothing short of transformative and cathartic. I asked myself, Why isn’t every woman empowered by her birth? This question fueled my passion to become a midwife and create an environment where women are supported and guided toward an empowering birth experience.

Becoming a mother is a profoundly special journey that deserves respect and care. Every woman under my care holds a place in my heart, and I work tirelessly to try to help her achieve the birth she envisions. It is truly a blessing to support a woman as she brings new life into the world. I believe that how a woman gives birth is deeply personal—whether at home, in the hospital, or through surgery or with medications. Each experience is unique, and I embrace and fully support whatever birth process the mother and baby need.

My journey into Chinese medicine began during that third pregnancy when my midwife recommended that I see an acupuncturist at AOMA for herbs to support my pregnancy. It was there that I met remarkable acupuncturists and instructors who inspired me. For the next 20 years, I continued to seek acupuncture and herbs at AOMA for various conditions. As my youngest child approached high school graduation, I decided to attend AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine, where I earned both my MAcCHM and DAcCHM.

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy teaching scuba diving and spending time with dogs at K9 SRT, a nonprofit rescue for shepherd breed dogs.
